Paul McGillion: Being in Trek feels huge
Written by Derek Kessler on Sunday, 09 March 2008
Paul McGillionPaul McGillion's parents were notably confused when he got his role on Stargate: Atlantis, believing that their son had scored a role on Star Trek. As we've known for a while now, McGillion does at the very least have a small speaking part in ST09, and we know that he doesn't die. And now we know that he considers his role to to be part of a franchise that will go down in entertainment history.

"It's something I'll look back on and say, 'That was neat to be part of that.' It's like being in a Star Wars movie or something - even if you're in a little bit of it, it's a little part of history."

His confidentiality agreement is ten pages thick, like most of the rest of the cast, and severely limits what he is allowed to discuss with regards to Star Trek. McGillion does admit that his part is 'an amusing cameo,' that he gets to speak with Chris Pine (James T. Kirk), and that he does not die in the film.

As some people who have visited the set have learned, Paramount is taking the confidentiality agreement seriously, clamping down on even the vaguest descriptions of things like the set (there's a big thing hanging from the rafters). So McGillion was understandably vague about what he said about the movie, simply saying, "It does feel huge."
