Tom Cruise spotted on ST09 set
Written by Derek Kessler on Saturday, 23 February 2008
Tom CruiseDon't let out that sigh of relief just yet. According to IESB.net, everybody's favorite sexiest man alive/nutjob was spotted on the set of Star Trek (2009). This is according their sources at JFX Online, which has yet to post the news themselves (though right now they seem to be busy following the very important news of Britney Spears driving around town, what else?). Tom Cruise has been rumored to be involved in Star Trek, for some time now, though every time it's come up, the rumor has been shot down. And we know for a fact that he's not playing Kirk or Pike, so don't suggest it. So what was Cruise doing down at the Paramount lot?

Ever since Mission: Impossible: III, Cruise and Star Trek producer/director JJ Abrams have been good friends. Could it be that the couple of hours Cruise spent on set were part of a cameo appearance. Or maybe he was lost. Or maybe he was just dropping in to say hello to his good friend JJ. Reportedly, Cruise is a big Star Trek fan, so it wouldn't be entirely surprising to find that Abrams had swung him a small cameo appearance, even if just as a background character in engineering. Or maybe he's a smoking-hole-in-the-chest redshirt.

Or maybe that entire previous paragraph was all speculation. Damned if I know.
