We've known for a few weeks that Playmates has had the new license for the toys for Star Trek, and now reports out of Toy Fair Germany reveal that there are prototypes for the ST08 toys are on display at the trade show. According to AICN, the action figures wear uniforms very similar to that of the original Star Trek, and the Enterprise design is also very similar to the original.
Approximately fifty Trek action figures were on display, in addition to toy phasers and communicators faithful to the original designs. Both were electronic toys and emitted the same sounds as the original series versions. Also described is a transporter room playset with a red floor.
The action figures' uniforms feature the same primary color shirts and black pants as the original William Ware Thesis costumes from the 60's: Kirk in yellow, Scotty in red, and Spock in blue (though apparently a bit darked blue). Also, old Leonard Nimoy Spock is described as wearing a white robe similar to that the character wore in Star Trek III and IV. Zoe Saldana's Uhura shows up in the classic red mini-skirt, though the action figure's is shorter than that we ever saw on Nichelle Nichols.
Of course, Playmates also had the U.S.S. Enterprise on display. As was hinted at in the teaser trailer, the design is still very close to that of the original TV-series Enterprise, though it is said to be 'a little more organic' and to have larger warp nacelles. Also on display was an alien starship that 'resembled an octopus and could have appeared in one of the Matrix sequels.'
It is worth noting that all of these were prototypes and may not be final designs. The AICN report also describes toys from Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.
