Coming up on Slice of SciFi Show #147: Roddenberry.com's Trevor Roth
Written by Samuel K. Sloan on Wednesday, 06 February 2008
Slice of SciFiOur guest on this week’s Slice of SciFi Show #147 will be Trevor Roth, producer, friend and business partner with Eugene ‘Rod’ Roddenberry at Roddenberry.com. Trevor is producing the new “Gene’s Journal” along with Rod, and artwork being provided for the journal by well known Star Trek comics artist David Reddick.

Trevor will no doubt be sharing all that is currently happening at Roddenberry.com and upcoming future projects in the works, such as the Klin Gik’tal Kyamo Klingon Combat of Attraction, the latest on “Gene’s Journal,” Trek Nation,” the feature-length documentary that explores Gene Roddenberry’s vision and its impact on viewers’ lives through the eyes of his son Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry Jr., the Roddenberry Scuba Diving Club, and much more.

On the rest of the show there is plenty of news on the SF and genre-related entertainment front. “The Wolf Man” gets new direction and Guillermo del Toro says that “The Hobbit” isn’t yet a done deal for him, according to the famous “Pan’s Labyrinth” director.

From the International News Desk comes a report about two major Asian films with both a budget and cast that rivals anything made in the West.

On the Movie page we take a look at a film adapted from Ray Bradbury’s seminal work that has been titled “Chrysalis,” and Will Ferrel will be joined by Anna Friel, the dead but resurrected actress from ABC’s “Pushing Daisies,” for the small-to-big screen film “Land of the Lost.”

Despite the 3-plus month long writer’s strike we still have plenty of TV news to talk about. George Lucas introduces a new character for his Clone Wars animated television series, she is a young Jedi Padawan and you’ll never guess who her master is. We also have some great Doctor Who news that will thrill fans of the 45 year old series, as well as a report on a Who spin-off coming to the SCI FI Channel.

On the surface it would appear that the future isn’t looking very bright for the Nightmare on Elm Street icon who has been ignored for the franchise’s upcoming remake, but don’t be shedding any tears for Robert Englund. The legendary Freddy will have plenty to do over the next few years with several roles as an actor and director. We tell you all about his upcoming projects.

Loads of news, lots of contests to tell you about and our guest interview with producer Trevor Roth. Slice of SciFi Show #147 has a full plate for you this week so be sure to give it a listen online this Saturday, February 9, 2008 and on XM-Satellite Radio’s The Sonic Channel every Monday. May the sat-pod be with you!
