Toy manufacturer Playmates has reacquired the license to produce toys for the new Star Trek movie. Playmates held the license up until 2000, when it was taken over by Diamond Select, which has gone on to produce many high-quality replicas. The new license covers the movie due at the end of this year, Playmates will be producing action figures, props, and miniature toy ships. Diamond Select will continue to hold the license for all the previous five series and ten movies.
