James Cawley, the man behind Star Trek: New Voyages (and the actor that plays Captain James T. Kirk in that very same fan film), will be on Star Trek. In an interview with TrekMovie.com, Cawley revealed that he ran into JJ Abrams on the Paramount Lot and that the Star Trek producer/director actually asked him to be an observer to the production. Several years ago Cawley started planning for his own Star Trek revival, taking the purist route and recreating the original 1960's series in the form of New Voyages. Despite his purist attitude, Cawley was very much taken by the scope of ST08, from the costumes (which he will wear in a scene) to the sets, and even the actors playing the parts.
