Cloverfield director says trailer is 'amazing'
Written by Derek Kessler on Friday, 28 December 2007
Star Trek (2008)Matt Reeves, the director of the JJ Abrams-produced monster-flick Cloverfield has seen the trailer for Star Trek (2008), and he thinks it is amazing. The trailer will be debuting in front of Cloverfield, which will premiere on January 18th. Like all the rest of the production, the ST08 trailer has been shrouded in secrecy, with the one and only rumor indicating that it would in some way feature the construction of the Starship Enterprise. Reeves said of it, "I think people are going to be very excited, It’s a teaser, you know, it’s a teaser trailer. But still, I was like 'Wow!' Just the scope of it, the scale of it, you just look at it and it’s so elegantly done."

Reeves and Abrams have worked together since they first collaborated on Felicity nearly a decade ago. They've worked together on several projects since then, and Reeves has been privy to things Trekkies would kill for, such as the aforementioned teaser trailer - and viewings of completed and filmed scenes destined for the movie due out in a year. Reeves has long been a Star Trek fan, saying, "That’s what excited me about seeing the trailer, was that I thought 'Well, this does look completely different and new.' But while having all the stuff that will make fans of Star Trek still feel fulfilled."
