CNN.com today posted an in-depth article on the upcoming release of the Star Trek: The Continuing Mission audio drama. The piece serves very much as an introduction to the uninitiated into fan productions, and gives some interesting details on The Continuing Mission. Said Sebastian Prooth, the show's executive producer on the surprising success of fan productions, "People are hungry for new material. But they're not hungry for McDonald's. They're hungry for gourmet."
The pilot episode of The Continuing Mission, 'Ghost Ship' will be released on Christmas day (that's five days from now, if you weren't counting). The U.S.S. Montana, of the TOS era is suddenly thrust forward a hundred years and has to content with the consequences. They plan on releasing 10 episodes in 2008.
CNN is also inviting its readers to send in 'I-Reports,' personal video reports, on your personal experiences with the Star Trek fan productions phenomenon. To see exactly what they want, click here.
