It's been several years since the last Star Trek touring exhibition (I remember visiting many years ago as a kid when it stopped at Kings Island Amusement in Ohio - pretty damn cool to a young Trekkie as I was). Starting on January 18, 2008, in Long Beach, California, the all new Star Trek The Tour will travel to 40 cities across the United States over the course of five years. In addition to the standard complement of screen costumes, props, and set pieces, The Tour also features detailed set recreations from across the Star Trek universe.
So what can you expect when The Tour visits a city near you?
The layout of Star Trek The Tour.
The 18-foot shooting miniature of the U.S.S. Enterprise-A, as seen in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
Recreation of the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Data's head, one of the many props that will be on display as part of Star Trek The Tour.
The Captain's Chair of the famous U.S.S. Enterprise.

| In addition to an abundance of props from Star Trek, including Data's head, a Reman scorpion fighter, the shooting model of the U.S.S. Enterprise-A, Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine catsuit, The Tour will feature functional set recreations of the original Enterprise bridge (where you can sit in Captain Kirk's chair), a complex of sets from The Next Generation, including the bridge (with ready room), sickbay, Captain Picard's quarters, a transporter room, engineering, and the famous curving corridor.
The Tour promises a wide range of Star Trek memorobilia, including the 18-foot Enterprise-A model, Data's dress uniform from Nemesis, Jem'Hadar prosthetics, the Negh'Var model from 'All Good Things,' the Neubla-class U.S.S. Phoenix model, Borg makeup, a wide variety of uniforms from Starfleet and various alien races (including Shinzon's shiny getup), and much more in the 50,000 square foot exhibition space.
There will also be several interactive kiosks delving into Star Trek trivia and behind-the-scenes specials and a special tribute to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. The Enterprise-D bridge serves as a set piece as well, when the Borg attack. From there you can go to the shuttlebay and ride a 3D motion-simulator shuttlecraft ride, with gentle and rough options, similar to that offered at Star Trek: The Experience. There is also a lecture hall in which you can be educated on the basics of starship engineering and warp physics. And of course, The Tour ends with a gift shop offering a wide-variety of Star Trek-themed merchandise including Klingon bloodwine (yum?).
As an added bonus, William Shatner will be appearing at select The Tour dates and locations (not yet revealed). The official press release for Star Trek The Tour, included a letter from Shatner, part of which read, "Star Trek The Tour promises to be the largest, most interactive and entertaining Star Trek event ever presented to the public. This will truly be an impressive experience for the whole family and I am happy to be associated with it."
Tickets will be available for $30 on weekdays, and $35 on weekends. Those interested in getting more will have the option, with special VIP packages ranging from $100 to $1500. The highest-level package, the 'Q Pass,' includes unlimited access to exhibition during the run of show in your city, access to an opening night celebrity party, private guided tour with the creators of The Tour, invitations to special events, exclusive merchandise, priority access to the simulators, a complimentary picture / DVD, and an exclusive Star Trek laminate. The other packages contain a variety of the above, for a detailed list, visit The Tour website.
Star Trek The Tour will open on January 18th, 2008, and run through February 17th, in Long Beach, California, at the Queen Mary Dome. It will be open weekdays ($30) from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, weekends ($35) until 10:00 PM. Children's Tickets are $16 for a weekday pass, $17.50 for weekends. Special pricing will be available for seniors, students, and in-uniform military at Box Office only. Special pricing will also be availble for groups larger than fifteen.
Star Trek The Tour is being produced by SEE Touring Productions, which previously managed the Star Trek World Tour that stopped in Germany and England, and the popular Titanic tour.
