Submissions for the Save Enterprise podbook project, "Dispatches From The Romulan War", will be closing on Friday, Nov 30. Fiction accepted before that date will be used to make a series of audiobooks that will be hosted on TrekUnited as part of day eight of the Twelve Trek days of Christmas event. Auditions are also currently open for narrators and audio engineers to help with this ground-breaking project. This is the perfect chance for you to get your big break in a quality fan production complete with specially commissioned cover art created for TrekUnited by exciting new Webcomic talent, Aric Hutfles!
Suggestions are also wanted for "Seven Music Videos" to be featured in the TrekUnited Video Center and TrekUnited will also host a Star Trek Fan productions Calendar on the Twefth Day.
TrekUnited is extending the support that it has always shown to Star Trek fan productions by encouraging members to contribute to a number of entry-level fan productions that are our contribution to a much larger internet event that will be happening over Christmas - The Twelve Trek days of Christmas!
"Dispatches From The Romulan War" (DRW) is a "Flash" fan fiction series, small pieces of fiction, quick to write and quick to read, that tell the story of the Romulan War as a series of news media articles. This is an ongoing project that is in it's infancy on the Save Enterprise subforum and it must be stressed that this is an official Save Enterprise project that will not be stopping when the PodBook project has run its course. This project marks an expansion of the campaign aimed at raising awareness of the era in the Trek mythos by encouraging creative fan productions. Read more about the "Dispatches From The Romulan War" fan fiction series on the Save Enterprise subforum and check out the submission guidelines.
TrekUnited and Save Enterprise are also managing day eight of The Twelve Trek Days of Christmas - "Eight Trek Fan Podbooks". This is another official Save Enterprise project, with the specific target of crafting eight new Star Trek podbooks. For those who are lost, a podbook is basically it is a recorded reading or naration of a written fiction for people to download from the internet and listen to (commonly known as audio books). They're quite popular among the sight impaired, those with physical disabilities that make reading a physical book difficult (amputees, paraplegics), and increasingly among those who just like to listen to a story when reading isn't practical, such as when driving, exercising, cooking, etc.
These podbooks will be offered for free download from TrekUnited. As fan productions, they can't be sold, rented, or used in any way to make a profit - they're just good fun, good practice for writers and voice actors and very high profile: The Twelve Trek days of Christmas will be publicized over a wide range of Trek fan networks, giving you exposure to tens of thousands of potential future fans.
At least two of the podbooks will be taken from "Dispatches From The Romulan War", each with three of the news reports. Auditions opened for voice actors to narrate the dispatches last week and will close on Friday. It is envisaged that each 'reporter' will be read by a different voice actor, and we also have a position open for an audio engineer to put the whole project together.
Another two podBooks will be the first two books in the "Tales of Death and Honour" series from the archives of the House of L'Stok, and the rest will be taken up with a serialisation of JulesLuvsShinzon's hilarious holiday classic, "Planet Christmas".
TrekUnited will also be hosting a retrospective of the best Star Trek Music Videos as day seven of the Twelve Trek Days of Christmas: "Seven Music Vid's". Check out the thread for links to all the best music videos that we have gathered from the internet and to add your own favourites! The seven that are judged the best (and that we get permission to host) will be featured in the TrekUnited Video Center.
Add to this the Star Trek fan productions calendar that Trekunited is going to host for day 12 and this looks like being a very merry Christmas for Star Trek fans!
