Following on from their release of the more compact Deep Space Nine season DVDs earlier this year, Paramount Home Entertainment have now released all seven seasons of Voyager in slimline packaging in Region 2 zones. Just like the DS9 and Next Generation releases of the same style, they contain the exact same menus, special features and episodes, just in more shelf-friendly size and, more importantly, wallet-friendly price.
These slimline editions were released at the end of September in the major Region 2 countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. Suggested retail price is around the £35/AUS$ 70/ €44, although retailers such as Amazon.co.uk are selling them for as little as £27.89/AUS$62/ €40 (as usual, pricing differs slightly between countries).
Launched in 1995 and running for seven seasons, Star Trek Voyager follows the trials of the Captain Janeway and the crew of the USS Voyager, thrown 70,000 light-years from Federation space and facing a seventy year journey to return home. Voyager was the first Star Trek series to feature a female captain as the star, and was originally the flagship show for Paramount’s UPN network in the U.S. Stylistically it was return to a similar narrative to Next Generation, foregoing the successful serialised format of Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
As with the previous Star Trek slimline editions, there appears to be no plans to release them to other territories outside of Region 2.
