The battle against the Tholians has been long since over, and the Federation enjoys peace within it's borders once more. But in an uninhabited section of Romulan space, a new threat is brewing. Mysterious ships from the Andromeda galaxy have begun an invasion, and seem all but completely unstoppable. But springing forth from the vaults of the secret Grey research facility on Deep Space 12 bring is one last miracle to help the newly-allied Romulans. Slipstream technology has the ability to enable the USS Odyssey to traverse millions of light years in a matter of weeks. A bold mission is put together to stop the ruthless invading forces, but will it be enough to stop them?
Star Trek: Odyssey's first episode - "Iliad" - will be premiering tonight at 10 PM EDT on Hidden Frontier's chat room (you must be registered to enter the chat room). In what can best be described as a "staggered release," it will then be available to registered Hidden Frontier forum members on Wednesday, September 19th, with the general public gaining access on Saturday the 22nd. You can be among the first to watch Oddysey by registering on the Hidden Frontier forums. Regisration also gets you access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content and discussion with the show’s production staff.
Odyssey stars Bobby Rice as Lieutenant Commander Ro Nevin and Michelle Laurent as Romulan Sub Commander T'Lorra in a adapted re-telling of the Homeric epic, done Star Trek style. The first episode, "Iliad," begins with a new alien threat coming from the Andromeda Galaxy. The Federation and her allies must launch a mission to combat the enemy on its home soil before it becomes too late for everyone.
Viewers may remember Michelle Laurent as Dr. Tesla Mor on Hidden Frontier. Other familiar Hidden Frontier faces return in Odyssey, including JT Tepnapa (Corey Aster), David W. Dial, John Whiting (Dr. Henglaar), Matt Montgomery (Nej'ta), Adam Browne (Jorian Zen), Sharon Savene (Faisal), Julia Morizawa (S'Tal), Tim Foutch (Pelas), and many more (including some new faces and some old friends in new roles).
Odyssey will be availble via Quicktime H.264, in both low (320x184) and high (720x414) resolution. Production on Odyssey episode 2, "The Wine Dark Sea," has already begun under the direction of Beo Fraser. Season 1 of Odyssey is expected to run five episodes, to be shot over the course of the next year.
