Well, not a whole lot of Star Trek (2008) news came out this week, but we are under the 500 day mark now, I suppose that's worth a drink. Or two. Either way, there were still some snippets to be had here or there, including a new poster released at The Official Star Trek Convention 2007 in Sin City Las Vegas. More follows after the break... to the round-up!
Star Trek.com: New poster, Shatner and Nimoy have a chat
Our coverage of Vegas will be simply cover what was learned at the convention, which wasn't much. Firstly, there's a new poster. And again, it doesn't say much more than what we already knew. Click the image to view a bigger version. Also, Shatner does not appear to yet be in contact with JJ Abrams, at least at the time of the convention, as Nimoy engaged in a (apparently mock) phone conversation with the aforementioned director/producer and said, "I told J.J. Star Trek would be better with you than without you. And I remind you that you died in Star Trek VII, but I was not in it. And if I had been in it I would not have allowed you to die." SciFiUnited: ST08 Poster Contest Think you can whip up a better poster than the marketing teams in charge of Star Trek have thus far? Well, here's your chance to prove it, and get some publicity of your own while you're at it. Our network sister site SFU is running a contest to see who can create the best ST08 poster, based on what you know - or what you want to see. Click the link for rules and regulations. USA Today: We're going back in time... time... tiiiiime... No, we don't actually know that this is a time travel story, but it does at least confirm a real detail that has been speculated on for some time now: ST08 will be set before the original Star Trek series. Says Quinto: "I really identify with Spock’s struggle. We’re going back to a time before anything was established. These characters are in a completely different stage of their lives." Also, he is apparently still working on his Vulcan salute. Live long and prosper. Discuss: TrekUnited Forum
