As of this posting, 15,771 individuals have added their names to the Save Enterprise petition. It was just a few months ago that the petition topped 10,000 signatories, so it seems that SE is on a role! The petition was created by TrekUnited's own ChristopherPike in January 2006 in an effort to persuade CBS/Paramount to produce more of the late Star Trek series Enterprise. They are pushing for either a Direct-to-DVD mini-series or perhaps even a return to television for Enterprise.
The petition was first sent to Paramount a year after the final episode of Enterprise - These are the Voyages - aired. At that time it had collected just over 8000 signatures of support. Now that it has quite nearly doubled in size, there is talk of sending it again. The petition has experience a recent resurgence in activity - it collected over 70 signatures just this past weekend. The individuals that have been monitoring the petition's progress are very excited by the uptick.
What has caused the recent signature surge is unclear, though it has been suggested the Sci-Fi channel's practice of showing Enterprise in four-hour blocks every week has contributed to a raised awareness, and that the Save Enterprise campaign's efforts to expand their influence and awareness around the internet may be having a positive reciprocal effect.
Regardless of the cause, one thing is certain to the fans of Enterprise: the petition is stronger than ever and the fans couldn't be any more happier about it.
