Ladies, gentlemen, and otherwise, we have news. Real news! Not made up stuff, not not involved people, not anything not real. Seriously. JJ Abrams has confirmed to Star Trek Magazine some details about the movie. It shouldn't really come as a surprise to anybody that's even remotely been following the rumors and leaks about ST: XI - hello, look at the poster - but it's nice to finally have something confirmed. Enough of that, on with the round-up!
Trek Movie: JJ Abrams confirms Kirk in ST: XI Like I said, it shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. No details on what version of Kirk (Academy Kirk? Ensign Kirk? Captain Kirk? Old Saggy Kirk?) or who would be playing everybody's favorite captain (Damon? Shatner?). I quote: "James T. Kirk appears in the movie." Exciting stuff, eh? TrekWeb: Michael Okuda says Abrams will do just fine It's not much, but a stamp of approval from either of the Okuda unit is a blessing of sorts. While speaking at the Grand Slam SciFi Summit in Los Angeles about the Star Trek Remastered project Okuda is working on, the topic of ST: XI came up. Okuda said that he is not working on ST: XI, though he would love to, and that, "Abrams has a fantastic team in place. If you have seen Lost or Alias or Mission: Impossible III, he has fantastic people. The great thing about Abrams and his team, if you look at his product, you know that they know the genre. They will do a wonderful job." Trek Movie: ST:XI Composer Michael Giacchino It's not really much to go off of, but the latest Lost podcast featured composer Michael Giacchino, one of the JJ Abrams team. He's going to be writing the score for ST: XI, and while he didn't drop any hints about what the music will be like, we do know that there will be tympani (kettle drums, to the layman) and that percussionist Emil Richards from Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
