Connor Trinneer Chat on Trek United
Written by Robert Glawson on Friday, 09 March 2007

Trek United hosted a surprise, semi-private chat this last Tuesday on the 6th of March, 2007 featuring Connor Trinneer, known to Star Trekfans as Charles "Trip" Tucker from Star Trek: Enterprise. The chat was not announced to the general public since it was a small event arranged for a special group of fans who post in the TrekUnited forum thread "How Cute is Connor Trinneer". A special favour by Connor for this dedicated group of fans.

The chat started off with Connor greeting everyone, noting that it had been sometime since his last chat on Trek United. He expressed his appreciation of the fans and how flattered he was with regards to the forum thread, were the page total stood at 249 pages, with almost 5000 posts entirely about Connor Trinneer!

Of the many questions, one of the first was to ask Connor when we would see him on television again. Connor told everyone that he would be on an upcoming episode of Star Gate: Atlantis in April. Another fan asked what Connor thought about his view on the wraith and their culture and he said that he enjoyed playing the part. As an actor, they are a little over the top and it is a challenge to act with all of the makeup. Someone else said that they recalled seeing Connor in a video clip where he mentioned that wearing the wraith costume made him feel tough until he started running into things because of the contact lenses. He replied that he did not feel so tough then.

He also told the fans that he just finished shooting a pilot, "ManChild" for Showtime, but went on to say that it had not been given an airdate as yet. If the pilot is picked up, Trinneer said that he would have a recurring role in the new series. The pilot is about the trials and tribulations of four guys who are a bit stunted in their maturity. Connor was also able to debunk the rumour floating around that he had built his own house from a kit, "You have to be kidding me, I didn't build my own house".

When asked if he would have a part in J.J. Abrams upcoming movie, Star Trek: XI, Connor wryly pointed out that his phone had not rung yet! He doubted if he would though, since in that timeline he was dead. However if an Enterprise game, a series or a movie were to be made, he would reprise his role if asked.

No one knows more than this particular group of fans that Connor attends several conventions a year and when asked if he preferred the larger conventions or the fan ran conventions, Connor said that it really made no difference to him personally. But he did go on to say that he would be attending conventions this year in Italy, Vegas, Jackson Mississippi, Sacramento, Philadelphia and Detroits' Comic Con.

Going back to his role on Enterprise he was asked, "How was the Trip that evolved different from the character that you brought to work with you in your head on the first day of filming having read the script, What was the biggest surprise for you?" Connor replied that the character (Trip) evolves as the show progresses and the biggest surprises were getting pregnant and getting killed.

Another question from one of the fans was that if someone offered him a blank check to do any project that he wished to do, what would that project be? Connor said that "It sure wouldn't be making a TV series or movie! He would keep everybody fed and protect the environment."

Since they knew that Tim Brazeal, the founder of TrekUnited, and Connor were friends, the members had a bit of fun by asking Connor if he could offer Tim (who has a magnificently shiny bald head) any men's hair care advice? Connor took it all in his stride saying that, "you just have to go with what God gave you!" Connor pointed out that he had an ugly, knotty, bumpy head himself, so shaving his head was not going to happen.

Connor eventually had to leave the chat because, "It's dinnertime and if any of you have children you know you can't hold off on dinner." The fans thanked him for his time and wished him a happy birthday for the 19th and Connor replied that it had been a pleasure. He thanked them all for sending in their comments but giving a special shout-out to Lioness, Mysteria, and Carolinsche, TrekUnited members and amongst his biggest fans.

Tim Brazeal said afterwards, that he really appreciated Connor coming and doing the chat for the "How Cute is Connor Trinneer" members. They are some of the most loyal Connor fans that you could imagine. Connor has always showed that he cared for his fans though and is a hell of a nice guy. He [Connor] is also involved with us at www.scifistudios.com. This was the primary reason that we asked him to get involved.

"Oh, now, be honest, Captain... warrior to warrior... you do prefer it this way, don't you? As it was meant to be. No peace in our time. Once more unto the breach... dear friends."
