Star Trek: Phase II has posted in their forum a Labor Day weekend surprise: the teaser trailer for their upcoming episode “Blood and Fire.” The episode explores more in depth than any previous Star Trek the still somewhat taboo themes of homosexuality and AIDS, as well as family when Captain Kirk’s nephew is assigned to the Enterprise. The Enterprise isn’t faring too well in this episode, however, and we also get to meet Phase II’s new Spock, played by Ben Toplin.
Phase II has also put out a call for volunteer crew to come and work on their next episodes. “Enemy: Starfleet” is have principle photography September 4-7, and the next episode, “The Child,” will be filming October 6-18. All work will take place at the Phase II studios in Port Henry and Ticonderoga, New York. Interested parties should fill out the recruitment form on the fan film’s website.
