According to TrekMovie.com, the Star Trek (2009) crew has completed their first cut of the film and screened it for their bosses at Paramount. Put together by director/producer JJ Abrams and editors Mary Jo Markey and Maryann Brandon, the first screening apparently went very well, with TrekMovie’s sources describing it as “a hit” with Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey.
This first cut of ST09 comes still nine months before the May 8, 2009, premiere, though Abrams and the crew are working to stick with the original Christmas 2008 date. With the first cut done, further refining will be done to the editing and ILM will continue to work on the more than 1300 visual effects for the film. Also yet to be completed is the musical score for Star Trek, which will be composed by JJ Abrams’ favorite musical scribe, Michael Giacchino.
Like the film, the first theatrical trailer has also been edited and is awaiting effects. As you’ll probably recall, the teaser trailer (under construction) was comprised almost entirely of computer-generated shots of the Enterprise under construction. The full theatrical trailer, however, will include live action shots from the film. As they are still awaiting the CGI effects to be inserted, an exact release date for the trailer has not been determined.

"Number One, that's "retract plank," not "remove plank.""
