The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has teamed up with the non-profit digital library Internet Archive to put online a comprehensive archive of photographs and videos from the history of NASA. The new website - NASA Images.org - contains a searchable database of NASA’s 21 major image collections, including images from the Apollo program, Hubble Space Telescope, and space shuttle missions.
The NASA Images.org home page
NASA Images.org was put together at no cost to taxpayers and all content inside is provided for free to the public. Over time, NASA will continue to update the website with the millions of images and thousands of hours of video in its archives. All content is tagged with relevant search terms to make related content easy to find. NASA partnered with Internet Archive as part of a five-year agreement to manage the new website. Content can also be put into “media groups” of related content, such as all images related to the Viking probes sent to Mars.
