Okay, not entirely (or in any way) instant, but fairly close together. Some countries will even be getting ST09 before the United States, which even today is a rarity, especially for a blockbuster film like Star Trek is expected to be. The May 7 and May 8 releases in certain parts of the world are to take advantage of the mid-week crowds and premiere norms in those countries, where the US is accustomed to the standard weekend release. So who gets it first? Belgium, France, and the French-speaking Swiss on May 6, 2009. Condolences to Taiwan, who won’t see ST09 in local theaters until July 25th, 2009. A full listing is available after the break.
