Star Trek: The Experience closing September 1st
Written by Derek Kessler on Sunday, 20 July 2008
Star Trek The Experience(From July 1, 2008) In an official statement issued by Star Trek: The Experience’s operator, Cedar Fair, it has been announced that Star Trek: The Experience will be closing on September 1st, 2008, for good. The Experience opened at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1998 and features many unique Trek, well, experiences, like the Borg Invasion 4D motion simulator ride, or a stop at Quark’s Bar and Grill.

The statement from Cedar Fair:
QuoteStar Trek: The Experience, Las Vegas’ premier interactive attraction will conclude its historic 11 year run at the Las Vegas Hilton on September 1, 2008.

Since 1998, millions of guests have gone boldly into the 24th century to battle Klingons, Borg, and other hostile aliens. The original complex featured the Klingon Encounter, an interactive adventure and ride. In 2004 Borg Invasion 4-D was introduced and the Secrets Unveiled Backstage Tour was unveiled in 2005, making Star Trek: The Experience the stomping grounds for fans around the galaxy.

In recent years, The Experience has suffered from declining guest counts and stagnant development. It’s position at the Hilton, which is several blocks from the famous and busy Las Vegas Strip may have hastened its decline. After Star Trek: The Experience closes, all of the Star Trek props and memorabilia will be returned to CBS.
