While the Vatican now recognizes that the Earth in fact is not the center of the universe and has posthumously pardoned our dear friend Galileo Galilei, the head of the Catholic Church is not yet ready to admit that there are aliens. Nevertheless, in an interview with The Vatican’s semi-official L’Osservator Romano newspaper, the church’s chief astronomer Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes said that the notion of extraterrestrial beings “doesn’t contradict our faith.”
The interview was titled “The Extraterrestrial Is My Brother.” Funes says that the vastness of the universe means that it is possible there could be other forms of life beyond Earth, even intelligent ones. Ruling out the existence of extraterrestrials would be “putting limits” on God’s creative freedom.
How aliens would exist within the confines of the Bible was not addressed. There may be another chapter to Genesis that we lost somewhere along the way, or it could be that God’s been tinkering with creating viable worlds to lord over, giving up at some point and letting the people fend for themselves. Aliens could conceivably be part of God’s world, perhaps abandoned – or maybe we’re the abandoned ones. Frankly, that would explain a great deal.
Of course, if you aren’t a believer in the whole God thing, then that’s all a moot point. Or, if you’re Klingon you’ve already killed your God(s), which would also explain a great deal.

"Life forms... You tiny little life forms... You precious little life forms... Where are you?"
