Star Trek (2009) "more than a prequel" [SPOILERS]
Written by Derek Kessler on Sunday, 11 May 2008
JJ AbramsIn a brief interview with Rolling Stone magazine, JJ Abrams was, as you can expect, pressed about ST09. The producer/director remained coy as always, simply saying “It looks at the formation of the core characters from Star Trek, so it serves as a prequel, but more than that.”

TrekMovie.com dug further, confirming with their sources that the opening scenes of Star Trek will take place in the post-Nemesis 24th century, as had been rumored and speculated earlier. This not only will provide a mechanism for the introduction of Leonard Nimoy as old Spock, but also may validate ST09 as being part of the current Star Trek continuum.

Abrams was also asked about the movie he is most looking forward to for this summer, admitting that it is X-Files: I Want to Believe. “Good relationships shouldn’t be this hard. If they don’t end up together this time, I quit.”
