Star Trek (2009) premiere tickets charity auction
Written by Derek Kessler on Thursday, 08 May 2008
Star Trek (2009)In about a year, there’s going to be some variety of gala premiere event for Star Trek. If you’ve ever watched Access Hollywood or Entertainment Weekly or like shows, you know that movie premieres are always filled with the stars of Hollywood, but now there’s a chance for you to go as well – if you’re willing to fork over the cash. JJ Abrams has put up two tickets to the premiere, with all proceeds going towards the Liberty Hill Foundation.

The pair of tickets is up for auction on eBay, with bidding to close at 6 PM on Saturday, May 11th. As of the time of this writing, bidding had hit $6000, up from the opening bid of $100. The tickets do not include lodging or transportation to the Los Angeles premiere, and do not have a specific date attached to them.

The Liberty Hill Foundation is a favorite charity of ST09 producer/director JJ Abrams and his wife Katie McGrath. Liberty Hill does not ascribe itself to charity, but to change. The organization is committed to effecting lasting change in the lives of poor inner-city residents and has been called “the most effective organization of its type in the country” by the Los Angeles Times. Since its founding in 1976, the Liberty Hill Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants, much of that to untested and innovative new programs rooted in the communities they are trying to improve.
