Starting in June viewers of the US SciFi Channel will be able to catch four episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation every Monday night. The first four syndicated episodes of the series will begin airing on Monday, June 2nd, at 7 PM, taking the place of Star Trek: Enterprise (which will be moving to three episodes on Tuesday nights). TNG was previously aired on Spike, which dropped the show in October 2007.
Even though SciFi does have an HD channel, Star Trek: The Next Generation will not be aired in high definition. All SciFi Channel HD broadcasts of both The Next Generation and Enterprise will be upscaled and stretched from the standard definition masters. Even though Enterprise was filmed and originally broadcast in HD, HDNet has the exclusive HD rights to the series.
The addition of The Next Generation to SciFi Channel’s syndication line-up is part of a broader deal between the channel and CBS. Also coming to SciFi are Ghost Whisperer, Charmed, Highlander, and the classic Mork and Mindy.
