Wired Magazine performed an interesting experiment, inspired by Ernest Hemmingway. The author claimed thatone of his best works was a very very short story - six words. "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." So they decided to ask science fiction, horror, and fantasy writers to give the six-word story their take. Among those they asked were Star Trek alumni William Shatner and Ronald D. Moore. Click on through to read their stories. |

Kevin Falls will join us for this week's Slice of SciFi Show #145 on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Kevin is the executive producer and writer of Journeyman, the NBC sc--fi drama that was recently left dangling by the network. He has an impressive resume as a consultant on the James Woods drama Shark and co-executive producer for the highly successful, Emmy winning The West Wing. Kevin will talk about Journeyman and the international fan effort to see that very imaginative show brought back for a full pickup on NBC Universal's schedule. |

Tim Russ joins us as our special guest on Slice of SciFi Show #144 this Saturday, January 19, 2008. Tim starred as Commander Tuvok, the Vulcan security chief on the U.S.S. Voyager for 7 years. A native of Washington D.C., Tim grew up as a military brat in the 50's and 60's, which ended up serving him well as a model for being in Starfleet. He received a B.S. in Theater Arts from Saint Edwards University, then went on to Illinois State University to further his studies. His first gig was on the prestigious Masterpiece Theater on PBS, but it was the Star Trek franchise that would afford him his greatest success as, not only an actor, but director too. |

Following on the news that Warner Brothers was dropping their agreement with Toshiba-backed HD DVD in favor of Sony's Blu-Ray Disc, rumors started swirling that Paramount, one of the last remaining studios supporting HD DVD, was considering withdrawing their support as well, a move that would effectively end the format war with Blu-Ray coming out as the victor. Brenda Ciccone, Paramount's Vice President of Publicity, denied the reports, stating that "Paramount's current plan is to continue to support the HD DVD format." |

It's time to extend our warm birthday wishes to everybody's favorite Ferengi in Starfleet (not that you have many from which to pick), Aron Eisenberg! Aron played the charcter of Nog for seven years on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and today turns 39-years-old. Nowadays Aron is busy on the convention circuit, performing in the fan favorite 'Ferengi Family Hour' with Max Grodenchik (Rom), Chase Masterson (Leeta), and Cecily Adams (Ishka). |
