Written by Derek Kessler on Sunday, 20 April 2008

John Cho to be a father
Written by Derek Kessler on Wednesday, 16 April 2008
John ChoHe'll be playing Hikaru Sulu in the upcoming Star Trek movie, and while Harold and Kumar may have gone to White Castle, John Cho and wife Kerri Higuchi are headed to the hospital - they're having a baby! Cho, 35, and Higuchi are expecting their first child, a bouncing baby boy. Seeing as Cho is both an admitted Trekkie and playing Sulu in the new movie, we might just be welcoming another fan to our ranks in a few months. Cho descibed the experience as both "scary and exciting." Congratulations and best of luck to John and Kerri!

Patrick Stewart on Broadway, Trek
Written by Derek Kessler on Tuesday, 15 April 2008
Patrick StewartWhen an actor like Patrick Stewart brings his award-winning MacBeth statesite, it seems we can expect all manner of interviews. April fooled in Trek and space
Written by Derek Kessler on Friday, 04 April 2008
*groan*April 1st is always a fun time to be on the internet. You can count on there being a number of entertaining farses to be put forth on reputable news sites, and in England. Some are small little jokes, others are elaborate hoaxes like the flying penguins piece created by BBC this year. Thankfully, this year Bill Gates wasn't shot and the South Korean stock market didn't crash, but there was a seriously notable absense from the festivities this year. We've got a collection of the space and Star Trek April Fools jokes put forth this year after the break.

Written by Derek Kessler on Thursday, 27 March 2008
Final resting place: The MoonAnd you thought getting a post-mortem ride into orbit was cool. Celestis, Inc, the company that brought us suborbital and orbital flights for human ashes has reached an agreement with two companies planning private lunar landers to send along vials of cremated human remains to the moon. Celestis has partnered with Odyssey Moon and Astrobotic Technology and hopes to send its first 1000 ash capsules (and the lander) to the moon in late 2009 or 2010, with another 5,000 capsules lined up for future launches. The robotic landers will perform science experiements and remain on the moon with the ashes once their missions are completed. Celestis, a subsidiary of Space Service, which in September of last year launched the ashes of James Doohan and Gordon Cooper on a suborbital flight, plans to charge $10,000 per ash capsule.
