(From June 12, 2008) Well, we’ve got proof now that Cryptic Studios has taken over Star Trek: Online. While the MMORPG specialist won’t publicly admit to having taken on the project, their website has revealed one telling clue: a countdown (to July 28, 2008, midnight PDT) with a background taken from ST:O artwork. It’s a little blurb, but with just over a week to go, it’s all we’ve got so far. |

This one’s sure to bring out the opinions: Star Trek Nemesis. The last Star Trek movie has been both hailed as a cinematic masterpiece and decried as contrived and disappointing. The actors have almost all come out with no kind words for director Stuart Baird. The film barely broke even when you factor in domestic and international box office and DVD/rental numbers, with a budget of just $70 million. So where did Nemesis go wrong, did it go wrong at all? Was it the lack of a ":" in the title? The question begs asking... how would you change Star Trek Nemesis? |

Seriously. According to TrekMovie.com, the new Pez candy dispensers were originally slated to coincide with the Christmas 2008 launch of the new Star Trek movie, but when Paramount pushed back the movie to the summer of 2009, Pez decided to press ahead without them. All the same, it makes sense, because the heads will be those of the original series crew (i.e. Shatner, Nimoy, and the gang). |

Sure, it’s still almost a year until Star Trek (2009) even hits theaters, but the brass at Paramount Pictures are thinking ahead, you know, just in case. According to writer Roberto Orci, Paramount wants to lock down himself, co-writer Alex Kurtzman, executive producer Bryan Burk, producer Damon Lindelof, and of course, producer/director JJ Abrams for a potential sequel for ST09. |

With Iron Man all the rage these days (forget about Sex and the City for a moment, forever, please), Faran Tahir is still out doing promotions for the mega-hit Marvel blockbuster. And, of course, because he’s playing a character in Star Trek (2009) – one Captain Robau – the interviewers can’t seem to resist asking questions about the movie (which is still 336 days away). |

Speaking with ComingSoon.net, Zoe Saldana called her stepping into the shoes of Nichelle Nichols as Uhura “a humbling experience.” She also made a note about the hemline of Uhura’s notoriously short skirt: “All I'm going to say is that for some reason every man on set noticed when I was working.” |
