When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered the ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 Billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C.

The Russians used a pencil.

When I used to write stories, I would use pen (and hope for the best words to come out). If I didn't like something, I'd Just mark it out and go from there. So I guess pen for me.

I hate pens... Only use them when I need to sign my name or it neds to be permanent. Otherwise it's always pencils and usually mechanical ones at that...

Pen, because I hate erasing. Know if I knew how to draw I might like the pencil more, but I'm more the writer, so the pen it is!

Good! I hate getting music that's been all marked to hell in pen. At least I can attack it with a jumbo eraser if it's pencil (I prefer to start with a clean slate). :)

Papermate makes them. I've got the PhD Multi... it's a barrel-twist pen/pencil/stylus. Writes wonderfully and it super easy to hold. Been using this model (I've gone through a few) for four years now.

Yes...but what did they do when it broke? :P Not to mention the pencil shavings in the cockpit :fear: *Ow! MY EYE!!*

Oh no kidding, same here. My kids used to whine when I had pencil checks. One day I gave them a piece of sightreading music with the wrong instructions written IN INK on it, just to give them a taste of what it's like. Some got it, other's just whined more. :wallbash:

I studying math and stats at uni and I used pencil for awhile but during the exams it always said use pen. So the 2 years approximately I've been using pen all the time. Even when I draw I use pen but probably prefer pencil for drawing. Pen is more trust worthy. That's enough stupid talk.

I vote Pen just for the sake of it!

Pencil. I hate pens.

Another interestign question on pencils: mechanical or regular? I can't use regular anymore because mechanical pencil points are so fine that I have to get up and sharpen a regular pencil every five minutes.
