The whole premise more or less ended up being made into the wholly unrelated New Zealand sci-fi series, "The Tribe".

When I first watched that episode as a kid, I was really disturbed by it. I first saw it in black and white which really lent it an eerie tone. Did you know that it was only shown once in Britain during the 60s and 70s and became one of the infamous 3 banned episodes. I had no idea why until recently when I read somewhere that some people were concerned by kirk's apparent atttraction/affection for an underage girl!

I agree and also I had a childhood crush on Spock too and nearly fainted when he kissed the girl . This became my favorite episode. I couldn't even guess how many times I've seen it.
