Who's your favorite science officer?

I don't think TNG had a specific science officer.

I'm probably the only one who is picking Jadzia (Uh oh! I think I'm going to get shunned now, since I didn't pick Spock). While Spock was half-vulcan, Jadzia had several lifetimes of experience to draw off of. I think someone like that makes a good science officer. She's seen it all ... well ... mostly, anyway.

TNG's science officer was Data :P

But out of those listed up above I chose T'Pol. Don't kill me for not choosing spock :P

Okay, I wasn't sure, because he doesn't wear blue. I thought he was part of engineering.

Even though I have Dax on my avatar, right now....SPOCK!! He made the mold. I mean he can draaw so much information out of a little view screen....AND he's such a wiz with a tricorder. Of course the neck pinch...I've often wondered why T'Pol doesn't use the Vulcan neck pinch???

Probably the same reason she felt the mind meld was "dirty", Vulcan society was undergoing massive upheavals during her era, the vulcan neck pinch might not have been rediscovered yet.

She used it in the Season 1 episode "Strange New World", and also in the episode "Acquisition".

One of my nicknames is Spock. It is only logical that the odds favor me choosing Spock, therefore, my choice is Spock.

You could say that Data was the Enterprise-D's science officer, but he was the Chief of Operations, not science (hence the yellow operations uniform instead of a blue sciences).

Although :vulcan: will always be the BEST science officer IMHO, I had to vote for Dax as my favorite. Yes, I know it's the eyes and spots that won over the ears of Spock and T'Pol, but she was such an inventive science officer. A lot of "out of the box" type thinking.

That's how I always took it. The Chief Science officer was always one of the unnamed/non-speaking blue shirts manning the aft science stations....but Data did function as the CSO for most events.

Of course each department had their own CEO, and during certain scientific missions, a specialist would serve as the science officer/specialist. Remember Lt. Cmdr. Nella Darren?

I voted for Spock. Leonard Nimoy is a living legend. Jadzia Dax and T´Pol would follow at the second place.

Well, there is one little mistake in your poll. The official science officer of Voyager would be Seven of Nine. She works in astrometrics and does a lot of the scientific work. :)

Star Trek fans benevolent optimistic and incredibly intelligent."

Actually no. Officially she was the "Astrometrics officer". Samantha Wildman was the CSO (although we very rarely saw her manning the bridge science station or acting in this capacity). We saw Torres at the engineering bridge station a whole lot more often!
