Well, what can you do when there's a writers' strike in Hollywood and you MUST make 22 episodes (it should have been 24) for that season? You recycle scripts from Star Trek Phase II, rework scripts left over from TOS and/or TAS, you give rejected scripts a 2nd look...and the ultimate money saver (that almost every series has done at least once)...CLIP SHOWS!!!

Not even Shades of Grey?

"If they're inside your sleeping bag. There it is. Wait a minute. Where'd you put the phase pistols?"

What? Family is one of the best episodes the series produced. It does something that had never been done before on ST, deals with the aftermath of a traumatic experience and post traumatic stress disorder. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but it's groundbreaking episodes like this that really elevate TNG.
DS9 took this to the next level, I really get the feeling that Sisko feels the loss of every crewman in the Dominion war, "They are not just names, we have to remember that, it's important that we remember..." a far cry from wearing a disposable red shirt in TOS.

That was due to the writers' strike in Hollywood at the time, and why the season is cut short. It's odd really, they could have made a good episode out of it, if they just wrote a bit more. There were some good one liners in there like the banter between Pulaski and O'Brien. But I'd have to agree, the clips made it poor.
1. The Bonding
I'm not a fan of Gabriel Damon. I find his acting a little too 'bratty'. Everything he's in, he plays a brat.
2. Shades of Grey
Started good, had potential. BAM clip show...
Holodeck Episodes
Seriously, Starfleet, reevaluate the safety protocols. Once, maybe twice, but nearly every season?
