In journalism there are those who get the professional news-feed, those who actively go out to search for the news themselves and those who have contacts who can tip them off before the rest of the pack finds out.
Anthony Pascale, the founder of
TrekMovie.com seems to have all three of these atributes! The following is a compilation of TrekMovie's articles on the upcoming sequel during January so far, in the sure and certain knowledge that no-one could do a better job of reporting on it that Anthony and his staff.

At the start of January,
Simon Pegg arrived in LA in preparation for the start of filming, full of his natural energy and totally ready for his role as Scotty. On the 4th, two British actors were announced:
Noel Clarke (known for his role on
Doctor Who) scored a supporting role but
Sherlock star,
Benedict Cumberbatch, was the shock surprise for a major role. Bendict is, "
hugely, hugely excited". On the 6th we found out that 24 actress
Nazneen Contractor was joining them but the 9th saw the announcement of
another Brit actor for the cast,
Joseph Gatt, joining beauty, Alice Eve as well as Pegg, Clarke, and Cumberbatch. You've probably seen Gatt but will never recognise him from his most famous role as the blue-skinned Frost Giant, Grundroth in
Thor. Simon Pegg is a geat fan of
Sherlock and Cumberbatch, as is
Alice Eve, and JJ Abrams has talked about his casting of him when he announced his decision to
convert the film to 3D.
January 12th came around and, as Anthony predicted,
shooting began on the film. As you can guess, security is tighter than a rice-picker's beannie but Trekmovie has gathered every hot hint, tip-off and tid-bit of news! From the
LA Times article the next day and
Paramount's official press release on the 14th to Benedict Cumberbatch's
comments at the Golden Globes, Bob Orci's postings on the
Trekmovie website comments. and Zoe Saldana
doing the right thing right outside the studio.
I'll be staying tuned to TrekMovie for the latest Trek news!
