Todays the Big day, Star Trek XII begins to roll before the cameras.

What we know already is Bruce Greenwood is returning as Pike. Great news as I think this Alternate Kirk needs the Mentor factor that Pike provides.

Other actors we know that are cast,

Alice Eve

Star Trek Veteren and Robocop Peter Weller

Noel Clarke aka Mickey from Dr Who

I was perusing thru the IMDB website and found a disturbing tidbit.
On the Untitled Star Trek Sequel (2013) Benedict Cumberbatch character is listed as Khan (rumored).
Click on the Khan link and it goes to another page Khan Noonien Singh. There it says Untitled Star Trek Sequel (2013) Played by Benedict Cumberbatch<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1212722/"> (as Khan).

Come on JJ, a huge Universe full of stories and this is the best you can do? I am sure the movie will be action packed but I would so like to see something new.

Yeah, I agree with you.
I think Cumberbatch is an amazing actor, there's no doubt about it, but I don't think he looks like Khan (I may be wrong, though).
But really, all we need is a new character or, even if not new, something that has not been explored so much.
Let's wait and see.

In journalism there are those who get the professional news-feed, those who actively go out to search for the news themselves and those who have contacts who can tip them off before the rest of the pack finds out. Anthony Pascale, the founder of TrekMovie.com seems to have all three of these atributes! The following is a compilation of TrekMovie's articles on the upcoming sequel during January so far, in the sure and certain knowledge that no-one could do a better job of reporting on it that Anthony and his staff.

At the start of January, Simon Pegg arrived in LA in preparation for the start of filming, full of his natural energy and totally ready for his role as Scotty. On the 4th, two British actors were announced: Noel Clarke (known for his role on Doctor Who) scored a supporting role but Sherlock star, Benedict Cumberbatch, was the shock surprise for a major role. Bendict is, "hugely, hugely excited". On the 6th we found out that 24 actress Nazneen Contractor was joining them but the 9th saw the announcement of another Brit actor for the cast, Joseph Gatt, joining beauty, Alice Eve as well as Pegg, Clarke, and Cumberbatch. You've probably seen Gatt but will never recognise him from his most famous role as the blue-skinned Frost Giant, Grundroth in Thor. Simon Pegg is a geat fan of Sherlock and Cumberbatch, as is Alice Eve, and JJ Abrams has talked about his casting of him when he announced his decision to convert the film to 3D.

January 12th came around and, as Anthony predicted, shooting began on the film. As you can guess, security is tighter than a rice-picker's beannie but Trekmovie has gathered every hot hint, tip-off and tid-bit of news! From the LA Times article the next day and Paramount's official press release on the 14th to Benedict Cumberbatch's comments at the Golden Globes, Bob Orci's postings on the Trekmovie website comments. and Zoe Saldana doing the right thing right outside the studio.

I'll be staying tuned to TrekMovie for the latest Trek news!

Well, I've came across some pictures from the filmings. I don't know if they're allowed here... Maybe they'll give us some light whether Cumberbatch is Khan or not. If he is, he'll be a very different Khan...

I hope what this movie will be very interesting and i hope what in this movie will be show war Federation vs Romulan empire as in classic TOS episode "Balance of terror".I hope what J.J. Abrams will be making very interesting, awesome movies in best traditional and style end seasons "DS9" and "11 movie".What for me will be very important in movie:I want very excellent special effects, many action scenes and good sci fi story.Even if movie will be as star wars episode 3,i of course watching movie even in this style, because i very like fantastic movies.

I came across these on Tumblr. I don't know if you all have already seen them, but anyways... I don't know who Cumberbatch is, if he is Khan or not.

Have you seen the vid? Apparently Abrams is pissed that these are out there!

@TC: No one knows who Cumberbatch is playing aside from the villain. He's obviously very strong and powerful though based on this vid!

Mm, I've heard it's some sort of space barge type thing. Whatever it is, it's apparent they're up high or something, or acting to be up high, what with the huge fan and Quinto looking over the edge at one point

I've seen the video and there are more photos on the Internet...
Zachary Quinto said he had a lot of fun with this scene and he was worried about the leakings. He also said they were no representatives of what actually happens in the movie (humm...), because the cameras were not rolling.
I'm dying of curiosity! Well, we wait for more leaks!

The way I read it was that he was joking as if they were fighting amongst each other, but it was probably stunt rehearsal's that you do before you do an actual take. Now the interesting bit is if you read the comments on Trekmovie, Bob Orci implies that he's the one who leaked the photos (and potentially the video)
