The driving force behind Dispatches From The Romulan War, Ensign Edwards recently announced the closure of Dispatches From the Romulan War, the long running flash fiction series he started with Captain Hair back in January 2008. To cap off the end of the four year long series, we have decided to revamp the looks with new internal and external graphics and publicise it over a wider range of groups.

The Romulan Empire has succeeded in baiting the Coalition Of Planets into
open war and now the raptor will make its strike. As both sides escalate the
conflict, dissension will spread through the Coalition, opposition groups will
question the need for war and rogue elements thought dead will resurface.

Written and released on this forum between February 2008 and January 2009, the stories in Volume 2 tell of the first devastating blows dealt by the Romulans, political intrigue both inside and outside the coalition and the evelopment of an antiwar sentiment on Earth. Dispatches From The Romulan War, Volume 2 is formated in digest size to give you an easy-on-the-eye double spread for you to read on-screen. Your dedicated staff at TrekUnited Publishing are hard at work converting it into the two eBook formats for you!

Thanks, Bill, the support is appreciated.

The one thing that I thought dtracted from the pdf digest that we did of Volume 1 was that, even though it was short at 21 pages, there was a lot of white space. This is why I'm trying to make our digest publications follow the Analog style with at least one illustration for every story - what you get is a stronger immersion in the story.

At this point in time I am the only member of the art department of TU Pub (although I'm working on Richard Merk to share some of his cgi art with us!) so it was up to me to do the illustrations for Volume 2. Because of its retro style, Personal Logs has an editorial commitment towards keeping internal art to black and white but for Dispatches From The Romulan Wars (DRW) I thought I would see what can be done with artistic manipulations of canon graphics. Using stock graphics, mostly landscapes, from the archives of Trekcore [link], I did every illustration with a different filter, script or technique in GIMP. Comments and constructive critique are, as always, welcome.

It should go without saying that the copyright for the original graphics belongs to CBS / Paramount, what I'm doing is a fan art homage to their work in the hope that it will keep the memory of Enterprise alive in its anniversary year!
