On the weekend of July 8, 2011 will be the fourth Second Life Science Fiction Convention on the islands of SLSFC4. As with the previous conventions, this is an official Relay for Life fundraiser of the American Cancer Society. Our chapter of the American Cancer Society, based on Second Life, has raised more than a million dollars since it was started in 2005. This year our celebrity guest is Nicki Clyne of Battlestar Galactica! In addition, our convention has 50 percent more space and can hold double the avatars than in previous years. Attending the convention is free, as is getting a Second Life account and logging in. Individual events may have an additional fee and the schedule of events may change at a moments notice. We hope to see you there!

This convention is sponsored by The Federation, Beach Bunns, BSG Exodus, BSG99 Athena, Deep Star Callisto & USS Nimoy, Space Repo, The Doctor Who Exposition, The New Order of the Jedi, The Tocana Colonies and the United Federation Starfleet.

I was there this morning but I spent most of the morning working out the mechanics of how to make the avatar work! It took a while for the Linden$ (which is the medium of exchange in there) to clear from my account so I couldn't buy any tickets to the events so far. Had an interesting time walking around, well flying around actually, walking is for real life! Chatted with some interesting people - Michael Blessed of United Federation productions was particularly helpful.

Yeah, that's me floating in the foreground. Oh! and guess who had a pavilion directly opposite his?

I finished off the visit at the UFP pavilion!

It was an interesting visit - I'm going to try and make it there tomorrow morning (evening in the upside down half of the world!). There's a lot there to see!

Cheers

"Rod" Roddenberry rescheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. SLT/PT. Tickets are still available for $250 L on the Second Life Marketplace, just search for "Roddenberry" after logging in.

You're welcome!

It was a real experience! I noticed that there is a Machinima event coming up too - I'll have to see about putting a good skin together.
