My first TNG episode was the first episode of TNG on the night it premiered. And it was at the last convention I attended, NONCON 10. They had made an arrangement with a local electronics store and got 4 big screen TVs and set it up in one of the hotel's conference rooms.

Mine was "Cause And Effect" (Season 5). And I fell in love right away. I still have no idea why, it's not the perfect first episode to watch since it repeats itself over and over again...

It definitely is, it's a favorite of mine, but I'm not sure whether it is the perfect episode to watch if you want to see TNG for the first time. There are other episodes that are a bit less complicated, lol.

Encounter at Farpoint when it originally aired. I remembered getting grounded that night (I was 6 I think) but I snuck out into the family room and hid behind the sofa, while my Dad had it on tv. From there I tuned in nearly every week and did not miss an episode.
