Jesus wasn't a Puritan, funny enough.

furthermore people who use the word "Puritan" to describe repressed moralistic fundamentalists usually don't actually know anything about the puritans :P
Have you reckon'd a thousand acres much? have you reckon'd the
earth much? Have you practis'd so long to learn to read?
Have you felt so proud to get at the meaning of poems?
Stop this day and night with me and you shall possess the origin of
all poems...

As C.S. Lewis so vehemently points out in every book he writes.

Deadline! :argh:

Blame school for making me read the "Scarlet Letter" and blame my library for letting me borrow the "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" :P Nobody ever claimed slang and connotation had to be based 100% on fact.

I see your C.S. Lewis and raise you a C.K. Chesterton.

You do know you only have an hour and a half left, Mark...

woo so i hitched a ride to school this morning. well technically i was walking to school and one of my friends drove by and saw me so she stopped and was like "mark it's freezing cold out here get in the car and i'll drive you" and i was all "nuh uh i'm a manly man and i'm not cold at all" but then i realized i couldn't feel my feet or my face so i decided that taking a ride was probably the smart thing to do because i'm not really such a big fan of frostbite. so anyway that was the highlight of my day.

The highlight of my day was skipping my 8:00 class and chapel, leaving me able to sleep until my 2:00 class, which I will be leaving for shortly. After that I'm done.

A few months ago some local station did a promo for the next day's highlight and, no joke, it was a historical retrospective on on shoe fashion... on the 10pm nightly news. Really?

People are dying in Iraq, at the time Iran was having severe upheaval, the economy sucks... and shoes were the best story they could think to cover? Do they even bother to do any journalism at all or do they just let corporations mail in videos of stuff.

Yeah, it's crap like that that makes me glad I never got into the industry.

One of our local stations now has elevator music over the traffic report in the evenings. It's the dumbest-sounding thing ever. And the second-dumbest is the idiot that does the traffic.
