Imperial Guard Leads Coalition Forces to Important Victory
Zas - Andorian Imperial News Service
13 April, 2157

In press conferences this morning, Coalition governments released information on an important victory over the forces of Romulus.

Yesterday, a Coalition assault fleet entered the Telsong Nebula on the edge of Andorian space and performed a daring strike upon a Romulan space station concealed within it.

According to press releases from various governments, Coalition intelligence experts were able to locate the station by analyzing patterns in ship disappearances and Romulan raids and then searching for likely hiding places.

Imperial forces played a key role in the attack. Leading the vanguard of the fleet were three Andorian battlecruisers--the Walani, the Shenta, and the Ha'som--and the attack strategy was partially constructed by the famed Commander Shran aboard the Earth vessel Enterprise, which served as the command ship for the assault.

Reports state that the CoP fleet encountered five warbirds, as well as several smaller combat vessels and supply ships. Three warbirds were destroyed outright, and another activated a self-destruct device after being severely damaged. The fifth is reported to have escaped. No specific information has been released on the numbers of lesser ships destroyed or escaped.

Once the defenses had been defeated, the Coalition ships attempted to capture the station, but the Romulan crew detonated an atomic weapon aboard it, and the station was destroyed.

This is considered to be an important victory for Coalition forces. General Ujian of the Imperial Guard, and several of her equivalents on other CoP worlds, has told reporters that the station may have supported many more enemy ships than were encountered by the assault fleet. In her press conference, the general said, "It is hoped that the loss of the this station will significantly weaken Romulan forces in the region and bring a relief from the raids and hit-and-run attacks that have plagued our ships."

Chancellor Tson himself has praised the performance of the Coalition crews, calling their actions "brave" and "impressive."

Still, the victory did not come without loss. The Ha'som was destroyed early in the fighting, and the Shenta was badly damaged. Two Vulcan ships and a Coridanite cruiser were also destroyed, and several other ships were damaged. 129 Andorians and 489 members of other Coalition species were killed. General Ujian and Chancellor Tson have both praised the fallen, calling their sacrifice "heroic."

Much of the assault fleet is returning to the Imperial shipyards at Vastahn for repairs, but several ships have stayed behind to clear the Telsong Nebula of any remaining Romulan forces. Additional ships have been sent to reinforce the region of space around the nebula and repel any counterattacks, but their precise identities and planets of origin have not been made public.
