I went in with confidence all along with Mr. Abrams Star Trek film, yet I still came out of the theater with an experience that exceeded my own expectations.

Heh. This is something I probably should have included in the "Rate it!" poll. ;)

But on the subject of the poll - Exceeded my expectations. Far exceeded.

Yep... the film itself definitely exceeded my expectations, as well as my father's. He likes Pine as Kirk better than Shatner. :P

It was on par with my expectations, but I expected to be disappointed, so maybe I should have voted for that.

  • Interests:For this forum - 'Star Trek' obviously! I write fan fiction and am currently in the process of writing a planned series of fan novels based on the joint adventures of Jean-Luc Picard and Shinzon (it's amazing what you can do with a bit of bad science and a huge amount of imagination!). Actually, I've been trekking since 1969 and I love all Star Trek. I have books galore and I collect Art Asylum 7" Star Trek figures as well.Apart from that I love movies, reading, music and occasionally making my own art.

On par. I still like some of the other Trek movies more. And after watching the last season of Enterprise (which I did right before I watched this movie), it kind of seemed like a step down (although maybe not in the FX department). I just really wish they just continued Enterprise instead. But I guess I'm just stuck with this.

How was it for you?

This question I would expect from "one night stand" that has an IQ well under 70. That, or I'm seriusly in a trubble according to legal age...

Movie was fine, dandy, best I've seen in years... It was years after all, since I've watched new Star Wars movie. And a good Trek it was indeed. Loved to see Spock getting it much sooner than every 7 years, now I understand why he kept his "Polka hair" for all those 40 years. Do you think he floss also?

It was on par for what I expected. I had high expectations from an action / effects perspective and it delivered. I expected it to be completely different than the Star Trek I'm used to and it delivered. I expected it to be almost completely mainstream focused with small tidbits for fans and it delivered. I expected that it would initially leave a very small bad taste in my mouth as a Star Trek fan and that it would grow on me as a general movie goer through subsequent viewings and it delivered.

On Par...I thought it'd be awesome (unlike some of those basement dwellers who bashed the movie constantly before it came out) and to me it was awesome, so really my expectations were fulfilled.

Puzzled here... Do you live in a basement? I'm quite sure that the term wasn't meant for you.

If i'd select a basement room i'd do it for the pure logic of stable lower temperature in the summer.

I thought about saying something as I didn't like the negative connotation, but saw it was from a Save Enterprise veteran with lots of posts. Dunno... :llap:

It was none of these, and all of them at once. Some bits were good, some were bad, and some were on par. I came expecting average, and I got the whole spectrum.

Hi Legolas...I took it as one who had spoken negatively about certain scenes I knew were being placed in the film. Seeing as though I has spoken out negatively about the film beforehand, I took Cougar's insult to heart and I merely asked him to keep from personal insults.

We're adults (or should at least be acting like them) here and just because we disagree about certain things in the movie doesn't give him (or anyone else) the right to make a personal slam on anyone else. I don't call the people who adore the film names - no one should be calling those of us who find fault with the film names either.

That's what I meant by my comment.

It's only a personal attack if you consider yourself a basement dweller lol.

Or if you consider it a slight against Star Trek fans in general. I don't live in a basement at all, but I could very easily interpret that remark as an attack on all Trekkies. ;)

I know better that that's not what you're saying, but it's best to avoid insults period (as in insulting specific people or groups is against the rules here) for the good of all.
