I've got 12 hours to come up with eight great Star Trek music videos made in 2008 for Day 8 of the Twelve Trek Days of Christmas - any help would be gratefully received!

You can have a look at the ones that I chose last year on the 2007 website. They could be romantic, stirring or funny. In fact I'd even class an edited clip as a Music Video - something like THIS ... MWAHAHAHA!

I'd like to keep them from YouTube if I could because we are going to have them on embedded viewers on the Twelve Days website. Just try to keep them PG

Thanks for your help!

This one's not bad either, but can go to the bottom of the list in case better stuff is found.

Good one - Picard is almost lip-synched to the lyrics!

It ties together well to tell a story which I think is important for a music vid. To me they are to fan films what flash-fiction is to the novel - they tell a story with a start - finish - end. That's why building them around a piece of music works because most songs are also constructed that way.

Another one about Ro is Invisible Next To You but although the music fits the subject of the clip, the clip hasn't been edited to take advantage of the music.

Janeway The Alien Slayer! I like it! a very witty play on comparing the two female stereotypes, well edited too.

I think that's something else that is important in looking at a music video: how has it taken the original content and used it to tell a new story? Even though this is only a minute at most, this suggests more than it tells.

Star Trek Mortal Combat - Again a neat play on comparing two icons. I've always liked the boppy music with the strong beat.

Not quite as good though perhaps? It's more a collection of "frag-fest" clips than telling a story. It would be different if it focussed on one ship or one battle but you've got everything from Khan to Insurrection in there! Still good.

ST: Voy - The great pretender (The doctor)
That's cute - there's not as many about the male cast are there?

Damn ;) I missed this topic otherwise I would have sent a dozen of music videos. I have some really great music videos at my website.
At the moment over the 230 music videos by several creators. They're truly amazing.

Youtube is "banning" as we speak a lot of good music videos, because of their music. So it's sad to hear that you only focus on Youtube this year, as the better stuff is created by those who don't use Youtube! A lot of websites are dedicated to music videos, as were as Youtube just is used as a tool.

But to name a few, some which I've created in 2008 are: (and yes I find my own work good, otherwise I wouldn't publish it)

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=MXKNo3rX7mw
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=9lEUGEJxyag
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=P6z2C0rk6kk
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=DRwotNFxPpQ

But in my opinion Music videos of Star Trek are timeless, due to the fact that since 2005 there's no new material released (except the StarTrek 2009 Trailer)

so some music videos I really find are truly good are:

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=z473UzAltl8
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=GyszrUGwmN4
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=irTc5TmwghM
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=LU9o-99zyQc
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=WIC8Fq8ibwQ
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=eT0gD8wrLO4
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=MMBzllECGvs
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=zJ2EZ-Ix2R4
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=LF9LR0qYJ2o
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=lYjnZNwxyKg
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Ak3CcH14K4M
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=LW28m11g10c
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=FpqbPowLlcM

and i few of mine:

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=wMJVG2u4sd8
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=_01w_ubZScE
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=MpGDyTn7b8o

all these music videos can be found on youtube. Furthermore you can download them from my website. In high quality and with no copyright problems at all, like on youtube. I've deleted at least 10 music videos since november, due to copyright terms. Youtube is dying!! and people will turn away from it.

Most star trek videos which a shared on youtube is not created by the one who post them! You can't get the best version of the video and contact through youtube is very bad, most people don't react. Star Trek Music Videos always did best on websites and were also posted on youtube, for easy viewing.. but I prefer the ability to download a video. And that's what websites offer, all though not everyone has enough space for it.

Double Damn! :D You could have saved me hours of browsing! Still ... it was enjoyable work!

I know of your website, in fact I get your newsletter, but over the past couple of months I've just been too busy to give this Day's "Present" thought that I should have. If I had, I would have contacted you directly.

Next year I'm planning on putting some advance work into the event so that the video files will be acceptable from any source whilst still being played on embeded players on a webpage. I thought about making them into a Playlist and then putting them on one of the Playlist player sites like veewow. I might still do that. There are a lot of options for showing video onsite.

Cheers
