VHS was already as good as dead to most of us, but the last major supplier of VHS tapes has made its final shipment and is closing its doors.

Wait, doesn't that mean that the DVD is the only significant format right now?

blu-ray is the other one, much like DVD was the other format when it first started gaining ground around 10 years ago now.

I guess with a lot of production companies going with RED cameras for filming the need for production Beta tapes is what brought he final nail in the coffin in Video Tapes.

Poor, what VHS longer buy.I have large video archive of 500 VHS, but I think DVD is better: a DVD, you can select instantly episode film, but not rewind the clock. The DVD bonuses are on the film, interviews with the actors. I am personally for the DVD, so, as they are practical in use. With proper care and storage of DVD can serve for many years.

DVDs are temporary at best. They remind me of the first set of cds. Work for awhile then skip, warp, etc etc.

I've started a little on the side money maker for people who want to transfer their VHS tape, HI-8, 8mm, and VHS-C tapes to DVD. It cost me about $100 to buy the equipment. DVDs are so cheap, so it's only time and electricity ... and maybe a little wear on the equipment. I charge less than the professional guys, but so far, so good.

I need to make me a web site, though....Posted Image

AVI-this ripped? Thi is pirated. I VS ripped DVD. Best choice-this licensed DVD-disks and too blu-ray disks. Belived me, i use VHS, but all time this VHS-cassetes destroy in VHS-player. My choice it is DVD. But if you love the excellent picture quality, then choose blu-ray disks. On blu-ray resolution video 1900*1200 pixels. I think that in the near future, every home will stand blu-ray players and blu-ray recorders.

Ripped does not mean pirated. Files never degrade (unless they're corrupted somehow) and I can't lose them as long as I have backups. As long as the movie is legally mine, there are no problems.

I did not copy files movie from DVD. I think, what copy-unlegal. I no use torrent-site, becouse this unlegal and becouse this pirated. I all time buy only licensed DVD-disks. But if you have money, why not afford to buy a quality DVD-disk with a good quality picture and sound. I am personally for licensed audio and video products. Of course there are people who download video from torrents, but I have never downloaded from torrents, I'm going to the store and want me to buy DVD-disk. And at the expense of VHS, but was a good technology, but alas it is outdated. I said everything.

Good thing I still have two 12-packs of Sony VHS tapes still in shrink-wrapping, then... and my VCR still works perfectly.

I found it interesting recently the number of Tapes being stocked again at retailers. Also a number VHS/DVD recorders brands on sale. New movies are certainly not going to be on tape but evidently consumers are still making their own.

I don't use VHS now never.DVD-this is forever, because quality on DVD excellent, have special features, can select 2 audio track in format 5.1 or in standart 2.0. stereo.Too have animation DVD menu with scene selection, more can record in memory DVD player last scene movie and after switch off,on next day can watch this scene again.Choice movies on DVD is very big than was on VHS.Can even buy boxset edition series on DVD.For example i buy in july last year DVD boxset with full two seasons "Weird science".On DVD have audio commentary actors and casting group.Me very like DVD format.Me more like this format, because i can record my home video from my cell phone on DVD disc.I think what more 10 years DVD will be best video format in world.
