I have a few Star Trek action figures now and a couple of ships and will probably get the new movie stuff so i might be bordering Trekkie/Hardcore - however my knowledge on Star Trek is not that detailed - i've only really enjoyed and still enjoy the movies - not a big TV Trek fan bar the Original.

Yeah, I'd say you're hardcore.
Me, I'm more Trekkie now, was hardcore (and would still be if I could afford it).

Ah, well, then by your definition, I'm no more a Trek fan than you are ST:E. I don't constantly think about it, I don't have a single decoration in my house, and I have a fairly small amount of memorabilia.
And yet, you've labelled me part of the hardcore fanbase. I guess your labels don't work any better than anyone else's.

Call me what you want, based on the following:
1. I'll always tear up when Spock tells Dr. McCoy at the end of "This Side of Paradise", "For the first time in my life, I was happy".
2. I'll always cheer with Data when they destroy the Borg ship..."YES!"
3. I'll always cringe when the brakes sound right before Edith Keeler is hit.
4. I'll always laugh as Spock says "A double dumbass to you" in Star Trek IV.
5. I'll always feel a deep sense of doing the right thing when Ryker says "Fire", with the hope of destroying Locutus.
...I could go on...but you get the point
A label is a poor man's way of trying to understand that which he apparently is unable to understand.

Perhaps thats the lesson to be learned here - labeling people when you don't know them, or even if you do - doesn't work. However i guess my guess was pretty accurate since you labeled yourself Hardcore (although perhaps a tad strong for you)

As for Trek in general, I quote lines from Trek to use in my daily life, thats hardcore my friend. I have a room in my house that is my Star Trek sanctuary. The list goes on.
