Did you just watch tonight? Because I did haha. I think it was poorly made. Story wasn't so great compared to others, was kinda boring and they never saw vaal in his real form. And they killed him! That is against starfleet regulations, but then again Kirk never really followed regulations did he? CGI? What CGI...if you're talking about the visual effects I gave it a D, if I could re-vote I'd give it a B compared to other TOS episodes. But D remains for story. That is how I rate it.
In Captivity, in war, in peace, I will stand by my ship, and my crew, and never forget my duty as a Starfleet captain.

I didn't see anything wrong with the CGI, so that gets an "A", as usual. But I do have a bone to pick with the FX in general. Why was the thunderstorm scene not tinted red, like in the original? That seems like a major blunder, right up there with "The Paradise Syndrome" when the deflector beam color didn't match the dialog. There's no poll for the general FX, but if there were I'd give them no more than a "C". Come on, guys. You can do better than this.

I liked the idea behind the story, but the story itself was a bit slow. So that gets a "C".

I guess my favorite new effect would have to be the orbit shot. (There wasn't really much in this one, other than the orbit shots and the Enterprise shooting at Vaal.)

This is the big one, lol. Kirk and McCoy shape an entire culture in their own image, with lots of coy references to sex, and too hell with the prime directive. Not one of my favourites.
