....I think I could be persuaded by these starting in September!

Star Trek: Alien Spotlight

September will see the release of the first issue of a six-issue series that will shine the spotlight on some of the most beloved, revered and feared alien races from the Star Trek universe. Scheduled for the first round of Alien Spotlights are:

o Vulcans—written by Rick Remender (Fear Agent)
o Gorn—written by Scott and David Tipton (Star Trek: Klingons: Blood Will Tell)
o Borg—written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night)
o Andorians—written by Paul D. Storrie (Justice League Unlimited)
o Orion Slave Women—written by Dan Taylor (Hero Happy Hour)
o Romulans—John Byrne (The Man of Steel, Next Men)

I'm very excited by the comic which highlights the Romulans, and these are sure to be real crowd-pleasers!

I haven't read much Trek literature in a long time, but I am glad the Romulans are getting their own one shot comic book. There isn't enough Romulan related Trek merchandise.
I wonder when Art Adylum is going to get around to making a Romulan figure.

When the Romulans are featured as more than a plot device in a movie. <_<

^^^Yeah! <_<

I just don't get it, the Rommies have had a fair amount of attention in the world of Star Trek novels, and those books have mainly been excellent. I always thought that they were potentially so much more interesting that the Klingons, but they always seem to be the 'Cinderella' race.

As for a lack of Art Asylum Romulan action figures ~ well I don't get that either. Collectors would go crazy for a TOS Romulan to go with the lovely TOS Klingon we have. They probably won't ever be part of the TNG line because that line has featured only crew and not generic aliens, and there's little hope for one occurring in the new DS9 line. A Romulan senator was sculpted for the Nemesis line but sadly never made it into production.

I'm interested in Star Trek comics and graphic novels, but I'm never sure when and where they come out in the UK. I guess I should keep an eye out on Amazon, or find a local comic book shop?

^^^I use Forbidden Planet home shopping online shopping and their glossy catalogue for all my sci-fi needs! :) Although it's best to be aware of the fact that the website and the catalogue offer slightly different items ~ the logic being (apparently when I queried it) that not everybody is yet on line.

Sci-fi fans without computers????

The latest Star Trek Magazine had more art from the comics, and I must admit for art for the Orion Slave girl one is making me more interested!

Has anyone read the Spotlights yet? What do you think? I've read all of them out so far and I think they're the best Trek comics IDW has put out yet. Borg's coming up (in fact I think it may be out this week) and I can't wait for Romulans!

Gorn: Chekov, Cap. Terrel, and Gorn (going to resist urge to make OZ pun...). Can't go wrong. It's what an episode of a movie era TV show would be like.

Vulcans: Spock on Pike's ship. Great ending. I didn't expect it.

Andorians: Best fits my idea of "Alien: Spotlight." Takes a non-main alien and really gets in his head. If you imagine well it could be an Enterprise comic.

Orians: Another Pike story. Sort of a mystery. Doesn't feature the Orians much, but gorgeous art.

Spotlight: Borg maintains the high quality of the Spotlight series. Only it doesn't focus on the Borg as it's really more of a TNG story that takes place just before Nemesis where the Borg are the enemy. Excellent story where the Borg cause all kinds of havok with the timestream, and the best part is it's the Vulcans fault (sort of). Minor spoiler but I coded it just to be safe, Admiral Janeway, as Starfleets expert on the Borg, works with Picard, and we see Borgified Species 8472!. Great art that's sort of a cross between "American" style and manga.

If you like it or don't like it let's hear your opinions!
