Again, as I said for "Balance of Terror", I really can't vote for the episode itself, just the new FX, which is the reason I was watching the new episodes.

The FX get an "A" from me. The Earth looks really good. Maybe it doesn't look totally real, but it is a whole lot better than the original version. The movement of the ship looked more realistic in this episode.

It looked to me like the "transporting" effect didn't change. And I'm okay with that. That was fine the way it was.

So, it's an "A".

I was amazed how much better the new version looked. I have Directv and a nice LCD television and this new version captivated me. The scenes were bright and sharp and the newly added graphics, like the Earth on the viewscreen looked more like the shots we have seen from the space shuttle than what was originally in the episode. The effects didn't jump out at you, but were very subtle. I was quite pleased with what I saw.

I was going to watch the other episode, Balance of Terror, but a gigantic thunder storm came and the power went off. The storm was huge...over 3 inches of rain fell here, and over 5 inches a few miles down the road.

Ok, I know this is a little off subject but... you did mention DirectTV. Do you have the HD reciver? Have you watched Enterprise on HD Net? I have watched the first two episodes.... They did use a HD cammera in the 4th year. The first year still looks good.

They used a digital HD camera in S4, but the first 3 seasons were still mastered in HD (even though they weren't initially broadcast as such). It is possible that HDNet got their hands on the HD versions of Enterprise S1-S3, though I have no way of knowing (I have cable).

Oh well, I'll probably get the whole set when they come out on HDDVD or BD. And the remastered TOS (brings thread back on topic).

I gave it a "B". The Earth was touched up and that was fine, the episode has always been one of my faves.
