Ok, I've been poking around looking at all these (bad) GUI overlays for years. My idea, simply enough, is a Linux based OS (mainly because the source code is already there and free for the taking) that uses the standards, look, and feel of LCARS, and is fully functional. Nice add-ons would be touch screen components, maybe even a Palm version I'm willing to put time into it as a tester, and use my desktop as a test mule if anyone is serious enough to take a stab at it. I'll even go so far as to talk to Jane about possibly marketing a successful OS in the store. Any takers?

I've seen a couple of interesting ideas on the web for turnng a handheld into a PADD ...

Cool, but I was thinking more of a standalone for a desktop/laptop environment.
