Yay!

Quote

In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie and, as bonus material, the theatrical edition of the film. That means you'll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983

This is great news. Gonna add it to my collection. Those "revised" editions with that terrible ending "music" in Jedi... AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

I’ve been reading on the Lucasfilm web site, that the is only getting a Dolby 2.0 soundtrack, that was yesterday, and earlier this evening a member on one of home theatre forums, said there was an update, and Lucasfilm is going to produce it in a full, Six-Track Dolby Stereo digital soundtrack, now don’t take my word, I’m just as confused, and until it gets close to the release date, I’m not holding my breath.

If they do produce a Six-Track Dolby Stereo mix, like that of the 70mm Dolby Stereo version, I would be very pleased.

Those are cool! It says you could preorder from Friday but I don't seem to be able to find the discs in the shop.

I can't wait for these DVDs to come out. However, it will make the SEVENTH copy of the original Star Wars trilogy that I own.

Of those seven copies, which do I watch the most? The THX Pan & Scan copy--because I don't care for the special editions at all, and I don't want to reduce the quality of my VHS THX widescreen and pre-THX widescreen releases. :)

Finally, DVD quality HAN SHOOTING FIRST.

FYI, here is a good list of all the changes made from each release of Star Wars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_chang...ars_re-releases

I am happy about the original unaltered dvds coming out, but i have learned recently that they will be simply taken from the 93 Laserdisc version in a Letterbox or fullscreen only. There will be no anamorphic widescreen version of the Originals made for this release, which really ticks off a lot of people. I will take anyway though.....

I have never cared much over the little details in the various versions of the first trilogy. I wouldnt know a true unaltered from a late 80s release, so its all still Star Wars to me. Not to say in the past I have not gone crazy over the different sets I have come across........ but I like to think I am a bit better with these things than I was then. lol.
