"Bones, Spock. Since you are playing this tape, we will assume that I am dead and the tactical situation is critical and both of you are locked in mortal combat. It means Spock, that you have control of the ship and are probably making the most difficult decisions of your career. I can offer only one small piece of advice for whatever it's worth. Use every scrap of logic and knowledge you have to save the ship, but temper your judgment with intuitive insight. I believe you have those qualities, but if you can't find them in yourself, seek out McCoy, ask his advice, and, if you find it sound, take it. Bones, you just heard what I told Spock. Help him if you can. But remember, he is the captain, his decisions must be followed, without question. You might find that he is capable of human insight and human error, they are most difficult to defend. But you will find that he is deserving of the same loyalty and confidence each of you have given me. Take care."

Dr Julian Bashir: Well, in my medical opinion, it's sick.
Dr Julian Bashir: I'm a doctor, not a botanist.
Dr Julian Bashir: Wait a minute. Aren't you two wearing the wrong colors?
O'Brien: Don't you know anything about this period in time?
Dr Julian Bashir: I'm a doctor, not an historian.
Sisko: In the old days, operations officers wore red, command officers wore gold.
Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax: And women wore LESS.
Dr Julian Bashir: Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?
Elim Garak: My dear Doctor, they're all true...
Dr Julian Bashir: Even the lies?
Elim Garak: Especially the lies.
Elim Garak: Doctor, has anyone ever told you that you are an infuriating pest?
Dr Julian Bashir: Cheif O'Brien ALL the time, and I never pay any attention to HIM either!
Dr Julian Bashir: If you're not a spy... maybe you're an outcast.
Elim Garak: Or maybe I'm an outcast spy.
Dr Julian Bashir: How can you be both?
Elim Garak: I never said I was either.
Elim Garak: Is that your plan?
Dr Julian Bashir: Shut up!
Elim Garak: The eternal optimist!
Dr Julian Bashir: Guilty as charged.
Elim Garak: How sad. I must tell you, I'm disappointed at hearing you mouth the usual platitudes of peace and friendship regarding an implacable foe like the Romulans. But, I live in hope that one day, you'll come to see this universe for what it truly is, rather than what you'd wish it to be.
Dr Julian Bashir: Then I shall endeavor to become more cynical with each passing day. Look gift horses squarely in the mouth, and find clouds in every silver lining.
Elim Garak: If only you meant it.
Elim Garak: You've come a long way from the naive young man I met five years ago. You've become distrustful and suspicious. It suits you.
Dr Julian Bashir: I had a good teacher.
Dr Julian Bashir: The point is, if you lie all the time, nobody's going to believe you, even when you're telling the truth.
Elim Garak: Are you sure that's the point, doctor?
Dr Julian Bashir: Of course. What else could it be?
Elim Garak: That you should never tell the same lie twice.

The Doctor: I'm aware of that. In fact, if it weren't for me, this transmission wouldn't have been possible in the first place. I was the one who risked my matrix in order to go to the Alpha Quadrant. If we ever get home... I expect I'll become quite the hero. "Emergency medical hologram, instrumental in the return of our crew". Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
Seven of Nine: On the other hand it is entirely possible that your program will be deleted and you'll be upgraded to conform to the most recent standards.

"I'm finishing my weekly tactical review. When it's completed I'll read the message."
"You're going to wait until you finish the tactical review?"
"Do you have any reason to believe the content of the message will change during that time?"

Ensign: "Intruder relay 2 shows something."
Picard: "Why is everything becoming 'something' or 'whatever'?"
"Data, don't babble."
"Babble, sir ? I am not aware that I ever babble, sir. It may be
that from time to time I have considerable information to communicate
and you may question the way in which I organize it--"
"Please, organize it into brief answers to my questions, we have very
little time. Do they accept our precence at this planet ?"
"Data, please feel free to volunteer any important information."

Scotty: The android at the bar said you could show me my old ship. Let me see it.
Computer Voice: Insufficient data. Please specify parameters.
Scotty: [frustrated] The Enterprise. Show me the bridge of the Enterprise, you chatterin' piece of...
Computer Voice: There have been five Federation ships with that name. Please specify by registry number.
Scotty: N-C-C-1-7-0-1. No bloody A - B - C - or D!
Scotty: Shunt the deuterium from the main cryo-pump to the auxiliary tank.
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Er, the tank can't withstand that kind of pressure.
Scotty: [laughs] Where'd you... where'd you get that idea?
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: What do you mean, where did I get that idea? It's in the impulse engine specifications.
Scotty: Regulation 42/15 - Pressure Variances on the IRC Tank Storage?
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Yeah.
Scotty: Forget it. I wrote it. A good engineer is always a wee bit conservative, at least on paper. Just bypass the secondary cut-off valve and boost the flow. It'll work.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard: I really don't have the time it would take to learn a part, and... anyway, I'm not much of an actor.
Doctor Beverly Crusher: That's no problem.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: [surprised] Oh?
Doctor Beverly Crusher: Well, you wouldn't be playing one of the leads.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: [disappointed] Oh?
Doctor Beverly Crusher: It's a very small part, only two lines.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: Really?
Doctor Beverly Crusher: It's the role of the butler!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: Well, I think about it and let you know.
Doctor Beverly Crusher: You would be *wonderful*, Jean-Luc!

Scotty: There's nothing wrong with the bloody thing!
Spock: Mr. Scott, if we return to space dock, the assassins will surely find a way to dispose of their incriminating footwear, and we will never see the captain, or Dr. McCoy, alive again.
Scotty: Could take weeks, sir!
