Hey, you're welcome Trekker. Although I'm 28, I try to encourage my former students (Middle School and High School age) to explore Star Trek and to look past the stigmas that are associated with it. I know I'm just glad that there are younglings (so to Yoda speak) out there like you who are watching and enjoying it too. :D

Simply out of curiosity as I am fairly new to the star trek forum... what is the difference (if there is one) between a trekker and a trekkie????

From what I hear:

Trekker: Someone who has started with TOS and worked their way through the series

Trekkie: Someone who has started with a series other than TNG and jumped around

Trekker, Trekkie... they're the same damn thing. Some people insist on pinning a different definition for each (some with when you started with Star Trek, some with your level of fanaticism, etc), but in truth the two are interchangeable and just mean "Trek Fan."

Trekker...WOW! I can't believe that name was still oout there. Welcome aboard, young one.

BTW...I'm OLD, so I'm a Trekkie. No Prob.

Aussie Trek Mom...there was actually a whole thread about that somewhere.......and each of us have different interpretations of what it means. For instance I've always heard the exact opposite of what Jenson wrote (Trekkie=TOS, Trekker=TNG and on).

But I'm going to go with the definition given by one of the interviewies in Trekkies 2:
Trekkies run down the toy isle yelling "Spoooooooooock!!!" I walk down the isle. :D

In the past, I am indifferent between trekker and trekkie.

But now I'd try not to use "Trekker" anymore ... b'cos if u do a google or ebay search for "Trekker", u will end up with many "mountain trekking" guys, haha Posted Image
